Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
LectureHelper (“we”, “us”) is a free beta app that turns online lectures into text. This policy explains, in plain words, what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
- We never store your audio. Each short piece of sound is deleted as soon as it becomes text.
- Your lectures are saved in your own account and in your browser. Other users can’t see your lectures. We access them only when needed to run the service, to fix problems, or when the law requires it.
- We never use your lectures to train AI.
- We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads.
- You can delete a lecture, or your whole account with all its data, at any time in the app.
1.What we collect
Your account
To use LectureHelper you sign in with Google. We receive your name, email address and Google account ID. We never see your Google password.
Your agreement
When you confirm that you are 18 or older, agree to our Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy, and promise to follow your school’s recording rules, we save a record of it: your email, the date and time, and the versions of the documents you agreed to.
Your lectures
- Lecture text, its title and date.
- Summaries and translations you ask the app to make, and single words you look up.
Feedback
If you send us feedback: your message, the email address you give us (optional), the page you were on, and your account ID.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps short technical logs (for example IP address, time and the page requested). We use them only to keep the service working and safe. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. To keep you signed in, the app saves a sign-in key in your browser’s storage, and our database keeps only a scrambled fingerprint of it (not the key itself). A sign-in ends when you sign out, or after 60 days without use. Google’s sign-in button may set its own cookies.
2.Your audio is never stored
While you record, your browser sends short pieces of sound (about 3 seconds each) to our server. Each piece exists only for a moment while it is converted and sent to our speech-recognition provider, and is deleted from our server immediately after it becomes text. Audio is never saved to our database, our logs or any backup.
According to our provider’s published terms, our speech-recognition provider does not keep the audio it receives from us either (see Subprocessors).
3.Where your lectures are saved
- In your account in our database, so you can open them on another computer. Other users can’t see your lectures. We access them only when needed to run the service, to fix problems, or when the law requires it.
- In your browser on the device you used. Anyone who uses the same browser profile on that device may be able to open them, so sign out on shared computers.
- Word files from “Save Notes” are made on our server and deleted right after they are sent to you.
4.How we use your information
- To turn your lecture into text, and to make summaries and translations when you ask.
- To save your lectures and let you open them again.
- To keep a record that you agreed to our Terms.
- To answer your feedback and improve the app.
- To keep the service safe and working.
We never use your lectures to train AI. We don’t train AI models, and our AI provider does not use data sent through its business service (API) to train its models.
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
5.Services that help us run LectureHelper
We use a small number of trusted companies (“subprocessors”). They may process your information only to provide their service to us:
- AI service – turns speech into text, makes summaries and translations.
- Hosting and database – runs our server and stores accounts, lectures, agreement records and feedback.
- Sign-in service – lets you sign in with your Google account; also provides the fonts on our pages.
- Email delivery – sends your feedback messages to our inbox.
The full list, with what each company does, is on our Subprocessors page. These companies are based in the United States, so your information is processed in the United States.
When your browser loads the Google sign-in button or the fonts on our pages, Google may receive technical information about your visit (such as your IP address and browser details) and handle it under its own rules, described in the Google Privacy Policy.
6.How long we keep information
- Audio: never stored (see section 2).
- Text sent for summaries and translations: our AI provider may keep it for up to 30 days only to detect abuse, then deletes it.
- Lectures, summaries, translations: until you delete them or delete your account.
- Agreement records: while your account exists, and for 4 years after you delete your account (see section 7). Then they are deleted automatically.
- Feedback: up to 2 years, or until you delete your account, whichever comes first. Then it is deleted.
- Sign-ins: until you sign out, or 60 days after last use.
- Technical logs: for a limited time set by our hosting provider.
7.Your choices and rights
- Delete one lecture: open My Lectures (📚) and click Delete. It is removed from this browser and from our database.
- Delete your account and all your data: open My Lectures and click Delete my account and all my data. We immediately remove your account, lectures, summaries, translations, feedback and sign-ins from our database, and the lectures saved in that browser. We keep only the record that you agreed to our Terms (your email, the date and time, the document versions and your three confirmations) for 4 years, as proof of that agreement in case of a legal question. This record is no longer linked to any account and is deleted automatically after 4 years.
- Get a copy of your data or correct it: use Save Notes for any lecture, or email us at lecturehelper.app@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have more rights under local law. Email us and we will help.
8.Security
Your information travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only the people who run LectureHelper can access the server and database. No service is 100% secure, so please don’t record anything you are not allowed to record.
9.Recording other people
Other voices in the call, such as your professor and classmates, become text too. LectureHelper does not notify other people in the class or call that you are recording or transcribing it. Always follow your school’s rules and get permission before you record or transcribe a class.
10.Age requirement
LectureHelper is only for people 18 or older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we delete the account and its data. If you think this has happened, email lecturehelper.app@gmail.com.
11.When we may share or transfer information
- When the law requires it. We may disclose information if a law, a court order or another legal process requires us to.
- If LectureHelper gets a new owner. If the service is sold or handed over to another owner, your information may be transferred to them. The new owner must keep protecting it under the same terms as this Privacy Policy.
12.Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. We don’t track you across other websites and we don’t use advertising trackers, so there is nothing special for us to do when we receive this signal.
13.Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the change is important, the app will ask you to read and confirm the new version before you continue.
